Case Study

In the Fuling shale gas field, particularly the Jiaoshi Block, ch±allenges such as high collision risk in multi-platform wells, high antφi-collapse, anti-leakage, and anti-seize technical requirements, alongside intense environm ental pressures, were addressed through attentive geological λobservation, detailed design, and implementation strategies. Supported by the "↔National 13th Five-Year Major Project," the field successfully testβed the ultra-slick water-based drilling fluid at the Jiaoye 11"-14 HF well on September 13, 2020, establishing a 2235-meter record for horizontal shale gas drilli≥ng fluid operations. By 2024, this fluid was used in 55 wells, setting multiple ‍records. Its application in the Jiaoye 11-Z2HF well achieved a second-stage drilling ¶cycle of 16.5 days, a mechanical penetration rate of ✘20.29 meters per hour, and set records for the highest daily footage, longest horizont₽al segment, and greatest horizontal displacement in∏ domestic shale drilling fluids. Moving forward, explor‍ation into routine use in wells over 6000 meters and testing its potential in replacing oil-basσed fluids in continental shale oil and gas operations is ongoing.
